Victoria Pearce is one of only two qualified tapestry conservators in Australia. Beginning as a hand weaver under internationally recognised tapestry artist Valerie Kirk at the Australian National University School of Art, she combines traditional textile knowledge with conservation science to care for some of Australia's most significant textile collections.

Her expertise extends across historic tapestries, costumes, military uniforms, contemporary fibre art and culturally significant woven objects, including Aboriginal, Māori, Pacific Island and Asian textiles, weaving, basketry and fibre-based cultural materials. These collections require more than technical skill — they demand an understanding of traditional materials, manufacturing techniques and the ways natural fibres respond to ageing, environment and conservation treatment.

From nationally significant public collections to private heirlooms and contemporary artworks, every treatment is guided by the principle of preserving both the object and the knowledge it embodies.
