Condition, provenance, rarity, presentation, documentation and the history accumulated around an artwork all contribute to its future significance and marketability. Conservation protects that trajectory.
We provide independent scientific advice before acquisition, during ownership and when collections are displayed, moved, insured, inherited or prepared for sale. Sometimes that means treating an important work in our laboratory. More often, it means preventing the need for treatment at all.
An artwork can be beautiful and still be a poor acquisition. Our pre-purchase assessments examine condition, materials, previous treatment, framing and foreseeable conservation requirements, providing another layer of independent due diligence before significant decisions are made.
We don't sell art and we don't receive commissions from its purchase or sale. Our interest begins with the object itself.
Exceptional collections rarely become exceptional by accident. They are documented. Their provenance is retained. Their condition is understood. Their display is considered. Their movements are recorded. Their stories travel with them.

Conservation should not mean hiding valuable objects in dark storage. Art is acquired to be seen. We understand the vulnerabilities of individual works and find intelligent ways for them to remain part of the environments for which they were acquired—whether a home, boardroom, headquarters, hotel or public space.
Lighting, framing, environmental conditions, cleaning, handling and display can usually be managed without compromising the experience of living and working with art.
When something goes wrong
A burst pipe at 2 am does not care what an artwork is worth. Neither does mould.
CorporART Care provides access to experienced conservators for disaster planning, emergency triage and treatment when collections are affected by water, fire, mould, pests, accidental damage or inappropriate handling. For significant collections, establishing those relationships before an emergency can make an enormous difference to the outcome.

There is no prescribed program. We may be asked to assess a work before purchase, examine an inherited collection, review a corporate headquarters, prepare a relocation, investigate deterioration or develop a long-term care strategy.

The first decisions following water, fire, mould, pests or accidental damage can determine what survives. We develop practical disaster plans and provide experienced emergency triage and conservation response when it matters.

Artworks and historic objects can contain lead, cadmium, asbestos, arsenic, unstable corrosion and other hazardous materials. We identify and assess these risks so significant objects can continue to be handled, displayed and enjoyed safely.

Every movement introduces risk. From a single significant artwork to an entire collection, we provide condition documentation, packing advice and experienced coordination with specialist art freight and logistics providers.

Sometimes the greatest value we provide is independent judgement before an irreversible decision is made. Our senior conservators advise collectors, Directors, Boards and nominated staff on acquisitions, treatments, display, relocation and emerging collection issues.
